The Committee on Science and Education recommends the Verkhovna Rada to adopt the Bill on Amendments to the Law "On State System of Biosecurity during Production, Testing, Transportation and Use of Genetically Modified Organisms" (regarding Mechanism of GMO Products Inspection)

The bill (Reg. No.8494) amends the effective Law
and introduces the procedure of monitoring over the open system of circulation
of the produce, which contains genetically modified organisms or is produced
with their use. Business entities dealing with such products shall first submit
the declaration on such production and send a copy of the respective
declaration during the operations related to the transportation of such
produce. Under the bill, business entities shall keep the respective document
(declaration and its copy) and respective documentation during five years.
The bill meets the
requirements of the Regulation (EU) No1830/2003 of the European Parliament
"On Control and Labeling of Genetically Modified Food Products and
Fodder" that introduces the mechanism of monitoring over the produce,
which contains genetically modified organisms or is produced with their use.
